OBITUARY.
MR J. WILLIAMS
The death occurred suddenly in Levin on New Year's -Day of Mr J. Williams, father of Mr W. L. Williams, of Levin, and a very old resident of Masterton. Deceased was staying. with his son for tiie holidays-, and had been in Levin five days. He retired for a rest in the afternoon audi was found dead about 4 p.m., evidently having passed peacefully away in his sleep. The late Mr Williams, wh-o was 74 years of age, came to New Zealand'from Ireland about 50 years ago. He had resided in Masterton during almost the whole of that time and until a lew years ago had been in business as a tobacconist. Since retiring from this he conducted a land agency. He Was held in great respect in the Wairarapa, wHiere he was one of the. oldest businessmen, and there will be general regret at his passing away. Mr,Williams' wife predeceased nim, but he is survived by four sons, Messrs.A. S. Williams (Masterton), N. Williams (Hamilton), H. O. Williams (London, England), and W. L. Williams (Levin), and two daughters, 'Mrs J. Higgins (Seatoun, Wellington) and Mrs R. Vaughan (Masterton). The funeral will take place at Masterton to-mor-row.
