MAKERUA BOARD.

The monthly meeting of ,the Makerua Drainage Board Was also held last week. Mr J. Liggjns presided, and others present were: Messrs A. L. Seifert, H. Akers, R. T. Bell and R. L. Tippler. The Horowhenua County Council wrote with reference, to the raising of the bridges over Kara stream.— Received' The board's engineers reported on the operations of No. .1 dragline dredge during the month. At the presient time it was 15 chains above the new culvert at No. 2 drain, ana should reach the railway line aboutthe middle of January. No. 2, tin© dipper dredge, during the month excavated 45 chains of new drainage channel, and should be close up to Whitaunui tramline before the holidays.—Adopted. . ~ The overseer reported that since tne last report, he had been working all the time in Mr Carter's new drain, Shannon. This drain would 'be finished aibout the end of the present week. During) the past week, he had made an inspection of the stopfoank right through the whole length, and found it very .satisfactory.-Adopted.
