Messrs W. Burbidge and Co., fruit auctioneers and produce merchants, re: port market dull for apples, except for clean Delicious and Doherty; which sell fairly well. Tomatoes are selling very well and as the country demand increases wo look forward to prices keeping good. Peas took a sharp rise early in the week and are now selling freely. Prices are as follows: Delicious, fancy, 2 7-8,. 2s, 2 5-8, 12s to 14s, spot 7s to 10s; Doherty, clean,* 7s to 10s, spot 6s to 7s; Sturmers, clean, sound fruit 8s to 12s, spot and brown, dull, 4s to 6s; pears>-Winter Coles and Nelis 12s to 15s bushel cases; eggs Is 16? to Is lid dozen; butter Is 3d lb; tomatoes, red 9d to lid lb, coloured, same value; vegetables; potatoes,' best, 8s to 9s 6d cwt; green peas, good demand, is 2d toils 6d per peek; French beans 9d lb; marrows,'small2s perdozen; cabbage ,4s to 6d per sack; cauliflower 6s ' to 10s sack; carrots 12s to 14s; parsnips 14 s to 16s; beetroot 12s r to 15s all full sacks; lettuce 4s to 6s case; spinach 6s to 10s case.
