COLLISION BETWEEN CAR AND CYCLE.
CYCLIST (BADLY INJURED. A collision took place on ,the Fox-ton-Shannon road on the bend past Mrs Austin-Johnston’s residence at about H o’clock on Wednesday, between a motor car and motor bicycle moving in opposite directions. The. car was driven by Mr Win. Ross, of Foxton, who was accompanied by. ,his clerk, Mr Duncan Gilbert, who were on their way <to Foxton. The motor cycle was ridden by Mr L. Ennis, of Cuba street, /Palmerston North, traveller for the International Harvester Co., who was proceeding to Shannon. On coming, round the bend, which obscures the view, both were on their correct sides of the road and, just how the collision occuired is a mystery. The collision, happened to be side-on and the force of the impact shattered the wind screen of the car, and broke off the running boards and damaged the mud guards and cast adrift the. spare wheel at the ' back ol' the car, while the front .wneel of the motor ■ bicycle was completely broken off. . Mr Ennis was still astride the seat when attended to by Mr Ross. The police and ;Dr. Wylie were immediately summoned and the injured mail attended to and remo.ved,to the (Palmerston North Hospital. His injuries Consist of compound fractures of the thighand;Jog, damaged knee and hand, and concussion. Mr Ross, who is in ill-health, was proceeding home, to go to bed, and despite his own-condition aT the time of the accident, he did all that was possible dor the {sufferer prior to the arrival of the doctor. The shock has aggravated Mr,Ross’ condition—Herald. . ,
