At .the meeting ‘of the Horowhenua Gojunity, Councils on Saturday, there was a full attendance of members, Or. G. A. Monk presiding. The following Shannon. matters were dealt with:— THE BY-ROADS. From tjhe Shannon ''Farmers’ Union expressing regret that nothing had been, done to improve the con- . dition of the 'by roads which were,in a, very bad) stajfe. . . The engineer was of the. opinion that the position Was exaggerated hint that some metal was required. After a little discussion the matter was referred to' the Engineer and the councillor for the riding. THE BUCKLEY ROAD. From the Shannon Farmers’ Union objecting'strongly to any poll being taken over the whole.. of the Tokomaru Tiding on the proposed l Kopu-taroa-Buckley road. It was of the opinion, (that a special rating ‘area should be formed.—Received. THE KARA BRIDGE. From the Makerua Drainage Board stating that it was desirous of iraising the bridges over the Kara, siream and had instructed its engineer to get into touch with the Council s engineer with a view to theworkbaing done to the latter’s satisfaction. The Board 'applied, for the Council s pe - mission to have the work done. The Chairman stated a bridge on the main road for _ Council; obtained * Government loan of £250 end the Makerua Board Sra wSS MSS? e sub sidy of' ££5Q. V , THE SHANNON ROAD. “That the Horowhenua County Council be written to. re the 1 disgraceful- state of the road between the Shaamon Borough Council and the Mauawatu bridge, and urging them to put the same in'.proper repair, was a resolution received from the Shannon Chamber of Commerce. It was decided to- reply that the work was being put through as quickly a.s possible. KAIHINAU ROAD. From W. Lange, Shannon, drawing the Council’s attention to the ‘‘terrible cut 'up condition” in which the • top end of Kaihinau road had •been left. In fact it was so- bad that he muist ask the Council to treat it as an urgent matter, a® he could not get his wool out until it was attended to. He would like to get it out at the end of the present ' month, so trusted the matter would receive attention in the meantime.—Left in the hands of Cr. Whyte and . the Engineer. ,
