SATURDAY'S ATHLETIC MEETING.

EXHIBITION OF JAVELIN THROWING. SOME VISITING RUNNERS. Following are some of the. sprint runners visiting Revin for the L.A.A. and C. Club’s meeting on Saturday. The full programme will appear on Friday. Mr L. A. Tracey, present holder of Wellington Provincial 220 yds, Victoria University College Champion. Fastest 220yds sprinter in New Zealand. Holder -of several records. F. S. Hill, winner of 220yds “B” grade championship On Ist December, 1923. A member of the well-known University relay team. Represented Victoria University College in the iir-ter-University tournament at Dunedin last Easter. , ■ H. - Bennett, a fine young runner witih a smooth easy action. A very good handicap runner, member of Wellington. Club relay team and very proficient in field events. Mr Bennett appeared at Levin on Labour Day, and has considerably improved in 10 mi since he has been in training. ■ ■ •• •

VISITING DISTANCE RUNNERS,

C. Louis, New Zealand’s s-econd javelin thrower, is. endeavouring to visit Levin on Saturday, to give an exhibition at the Levin A.A. and C.C.’s afternoon meeting. Javelin throwing is a form of athletics new to Levin and Louis’s exhibition with the ancient weapon is sure to be watched with interest. He will compete in the 100 . yards sprint handicap. Louis is also a great high jumper, having cleared sft 4in at Wellington on Saturday last. Following are some- of the visiting s distance runners:— G. Campbell,; of Wellington, 1 who- ,is a very good 880 and mile runner. Campbell represented New Zealand against' the Springboks when they were; on tour of New Zealand. He also competed in the 880 yards in, Wellington on Saturday last running into third place from 20 yards roiulnd a big field, —a very creditbdea performance when he was only a yard) and a-half behind winning in the good time of 1.59 1-5. Morton and Bowler will also compete on Saturday. These are two good handicap/runners.
