POWER BOARD PROGRESS.
CONTRACT LET FOR SHANNON INSTALLATION. LINKING UP CONSUMERS. A very interesting report was made, to the meeting of the Horowhenua Power Board on Tuesday by the Engineer, Mr Overton, on the progress of work in the Power District. The various headings dealt with will he found below, the report being adopted. THE SHANNON INSTALLATION. Contract No. 22, comprising complete installations in Shannon.—-Ten-ders have jDeen received as follows:
‘ , The prices have been carefully investigated and! I recommend that the tender of R, Y. Walls and Co., Wellington, be accepted. The prices avert ■ age approximately 32s 6d per point for lighting, ahd 37s 6d per point for heating. f j PROGRESS 'OF CANVASS, ; Installation Canvassing.—The second group, radiating from, Shannon ■ Borough and along the Levin-Shannon road, has been completed and ten- .... ders are advertised. * This particular group consists of 8 lighting, 9 milking motor plants and 7 Lot water installations. The third group is now being
' formed between Shannon and Foxton and to date 13 lighting, 7 milking motor plants, 4 hot water and 1 range 'installations have been booked up. The total number of installations .un- , der the Boar’s grouping system has now reaqhed the following figures:— ! Lighting installations ... 170 ; Milking motors 16 Motors for general power 3 Hot water'services 14 Cooking ranges ••••■•• 7 OTHER TENDERS ACCEPTED.
With reference to indoor-and outdoor sub-station material,, I have had a, considerable amount of enquiry to make with the’ lowest tenderers for these contracts. Samuel Brown, Ltd., have miaide all deliveries, arid A. C. Brown has yet about 200 scraped poles to Ship. . * • ' . Since last meeting a .shipment ot poles ex ’’Kaituna” has been‘received and despatched throughout the district, totalling - €BS. Twenty-six out of this number have not/ been passed for payment- in the class for which they have been; marked, but oaii be taken'as, a lower class and at reduced rates provided that an agreement 1o this effect can be made with the sup-, pliers. POLE,-‘CARTING- AND ERECTING.
Since last meeting 515 poles have been, carted out. The Foxton dump which, h in • all awkward situation, has been cleared. 1 No 1 gang has completed the Shan-'non-Foxton line, and-the Borough of Foxton, with the exception of about 20 poles in main street and 35 poles between the main north road at Barbers, and the river! No.- 2 - gang have completed the greater portion of the Levin Borough and have erected poles between Oban and Otaki Borough boundary. ARRIVAL OF WIRE. ' I have -received advice that, a ship : rnent of 30 tons of wire will arrive in Foxton .on Monday. This material will be run round from Levin , via Shannon to'Foxton.
