The Maori Queen, committee's stall in Ballance street on Saturday afternoon reports good business. The following are the" results of competitions decided:—Cake, correct number of lollies in bottJie,- 187, Mr rug), correct numbler of beans 1443/ Arthur Woods 1450.
The Fibre Queen Committee will be holding a dance in the Tokomaru Hall on Friday, Nov. 23rd, dancing tq .commence ait 8 p.m. Excellent' music will be supplied by the Foxton Jazz Orchestra of severi instruments. Those Shannon residents 'wishing to attend, will be conveyed by char-a*-banc which will leave the' Shannon Post Office at .7.30. p.m., return fare 2/6. Seats can be hooked *at Mr H. Hook's. This event promises to be the best held during the'carnival. The candle guessing competition will be closedon Saturday, and the candle .will he lighted 'early in the afternoon, and will be; on. vjiew in Mr George's window. Any one desiring to have a guess- may do so by seeing the. secretary, Mr Bums, or Mr Greedy. One shilling a guess.'. Prize: A radium dial wristlet watch. ' ' ' •
