Mr George Crosbie Godfrey hae been appointed secretary of the Marine Department, vice Mr A. D. Park, recently made 'assistant Public Service Com. missioner. Mr Godfrey, who is 43 years of age, entered the Public Service in Februaiy, 1897. In 1901 he became private secretary to the then Minister of Public Works and Marine, Sir William Hall Jones" Later he be. came chief clerk to the Public Works Department, and was promoted to the post of assistant under-secretary on the retirement of Mr Short in 1920. He saw active servie In the Great War.
