STRONG COMMENT BY BENCH

/At a special sitting of the j.'sP. Court held on Friday before Messrs Matheson and lnder, J.'sP., the i\.n--Lowing cases of straying stock were dealt with;— m making the convictions the presiding justices stated thai these cases were becoming too frequent and tnat lor the benefit'of those who were before the present Court and those likely to appear later he would like it to be known that in the interests, and for the protection of'the public, such cases would be dealt with more drastically in the future. Wandering stock was a distinct danger to traffic, especially at night, and the practu-o ol allowing them to wander mast oe discountenanced by every means.

G. Simpson, charged with that on September 27 he did allow one cow to be at large on the County road, was fined 20s and costs 10s 6d. E. TitcoMibe and J. Ka,rs for similar offence were each fined 10s and 10s costs.

Mrs J. Dalzell, charged .with allowing Ave cows, to be at large on the public road, was fined 20s, costs 10s 6d.

A. Campbell, charged with that on September 27th, at Tokomam, he did allow four cows to be at large on a 'County road, was fined £2 and costs 7s.'

I. Anderson, for allowing one yearling to be at large, also in Tokomam was fined 20s and costs 10/6. S. Mudgway, convicted of allowing two horses to bs. at large in a public street, was fined £2 and costs 7s. H. W. Mudgway, similarly charged, was fined 10s and costs 7s. G. Raymond, charged with allowing two horses to be .at large in a public, street was fined 20s and costs 7s.

J. W. L. Jones, for allowing two to be at large on a public street fined 10s, costs 7s.'T. Kilhen, similarly charged in respect of one horse, was fined 20s with costs 7s.
