MAKERUA DRAINAGE SCHEME REPORT.
PROTEST BY COUNTY CHAIRMAN.
At Saturday’s meeting of the Horowhenua County Council the'following resolution, passed at a recent meeting of the Shannon Co-op Dairy Co., was received“ That this Company emphatically protests against the continuance of the banking being done bv the Makerna. Drainage Board adjacent to the Manawatu bridge, before the engineer’s report, was submitted to a meeting of local bodies.” The chairman said that this letter gave him ah opportunity to make a special statement regarding 'the manner in which this report was made nuhfic. The report was drawn up at. a conference of engineers Of the dif-pim-ff • local' bodies land fhe .Public Works Department, which was held at, Shannon. The matter was stricth- confidential, and until it had come before the local bodies and been adopted, was not a. definite report. Regarding the letter from the Shannon Dairy Co. the Council ha-d no power to” act and he would suggest that it be received. This course was agreed do.
