OTARI CRICKET CLUB.

, ANNUAL MEETING. The annual general meeting of the above club was held last \yeek ini the . Council Chambers. There Was a good attendance, and Mr. Twist occupied the chair. In his opening remarks he stated that the club was on a better footing than last year, having a certain amount of material, due largely to the generosity of honorary members. He regretted that the club possessed several unfinancial members, in consequence of which it was in debt, and he hoped all would pay subs, overdue and thus help to place the club on a sound footing. Last season the club, he said, had done well and had won the shield, and, he desired that the club would again make a bid. for supremacy. A playing ground might prove a stumbling block this season, but he hoped the Council and carnival committee would give the matter > urgent attention. If the domain was not available then another ground would have to be secured. Mr. Twist said there was a possibility of Tainui . putting in a team for' the championship, but was assured by some present that the prospects of such a club not bright. He said in any case he hoped all would pull well together in the interests of the game.

Touching on unfinancial members the general wish was'that all should pay before taking part this season, while Mr. Giblin (secretary) said a number would not join the club on account’of members being, allowed to remain unfinancial.

It was finally decided that last season ’s unfinancial members be requested to pay overdue subs, before becoming members for this season, and that this year’s subs, be paid within a month of ; the' opening match, otherwise players become unfinancial, and in consequence will hot be allowed to use the material. The following officers were then elected Patron, Mr. W. H. Field, M.P.'(reelected); Presidents, Mr. J. P. Brandon (re-elected) and Mr. W. M. Simcox; Vice-Presidents, Messrs J. McGill, H. Mitchell, T. 'Walsh, L. Hansby, T. B. ,BaXj Byron Brown, and T. P. Lyons; Secretary and Treasurer, Mr. Giblin (fe- : Kearns, Baker, Morse, • Knox, Mnis, , elected) ; Club Captain, Mr. Twist; ! Management Committee, Messrs Twist, and secretary (ex officio); Delegates to Association, Messrs Giblin and Twist; Selection Messrs Twist, Giblin, and Eehtta. A hearty vote of thanks was accorded Mr* Giblin‘(secretary) for his splen- ! did services, and later a similar compliment was paid all last year’s officers. It was agreed that the subscription for the season be 7s 6d.

Mr. Hansby donated a ball, while Mr. Mills offered v a gold medal and bat for competition. Both donors were aecorded a very hearty vote of thanks. It was decided to open the season on Saturday with a match, married v. single. A suggestion that a vote of censure be passed on the Borough Council for not having the ground in proper order was received with laughter, although several members agreed that such a vote would be well deserved. It was decided that Messrs Twist, Giblin and Mills, wait on the Council and endeavour to ascertain its intention relative to ground improvement.

It was pointed out that out of 35 members last year only 18 were financial.— OtaM Mail.
