LEVIN ASSOCIATION FOOTBALL CLUB.

GENERAL MEETING AND SMOKE CONCERT.

To celebrate the end of the 1923 Association season a smoke concert was held in Williams’ tea rooms on Friday last, Mr J. W. Riminer, president occupying the; chair. Apologies were received from-the ‘Mayor and Rev. J. C. Davies. There \vas a good attendance of members. The treasurer’s report was considered quite satisfactory. The secretary, Mr R. McAllister, reported that the season just closed, fromi the point of view of success in promoting the “Soccer” code in Levin, was quite good. The club, with a membership of IS players, had done very well. Considering the great exr pensg incurred in travelling to Palmerston sO' often, it was surprising bow consistently, although at considerable sacrifice, the members had turned out.

Two friendly were played at the beginning of the season against the Diamonds and Island Bay clubs of Wellington. In the Manawatu Association Competition the club gained fifth place amongst the eight teams competing.

Two matches were won and seven lost, one by default, whilst two were won by default. Goals for 32, against

. A general discussion on the prospects for the next season took place. It was decided to assist the two b..ys’ teams already established, by presenting a trophy for competition, and to invite the Boys’ Training Fiarm team to enter. The" prospects for next season are very bright and, with such a number of enthusiasts in the town it may be taken for granted that “soccer” has come t° stay in Levin. At the conclusion of the business of the meeting a short musical programme was rendered, the meeting concluding with a vote of thanks to the chairman and the the National Anthem.
