Settlers in the Ivairanga district have been complaining about the action of gangs of men, engaged in erecting electric ' power transmission lines, in cutting down shelter trees along the roadsides. ' Messrs J. A. Nash, M.P., J. Linklater, M.P., and Mr. W. A. Waters, of the Manawatu-Oroua Power Board, journeyed to the ICairanga district and met the settlers, who explained that they had no objection to the line running across their properties if it would save cutting down shelter tyees. Messrs Nash and Linklater agreed to\ get into touch with the department concerned, and request that its representatives be sent here at onca to, go into the question. I
