Mr Mason feared a breakdown if he had been started in the Spring carnival. Gloaming’s scratching has caused much disappointment among racing people, who were loowing forward to his battles with Beauford. Mr Mason acted after taking veterinary advice, as it was considered useless to persevere with the risk of a complete breakdown. Gloaming will be shipped for New Zealand at an early date, where he will be given a good spell. Mr Mason is hopeful that this will sufficiently strengthen his leg for him to be able to race, aagin in a few months. Gloaming did walking pace this morning.
