• A PASTORALIST’S ROMANCE. Thirty years ago Mr Michael Ryan cam|e out toi Queensland from r. Jand, and when he landed in this country he was practically penniless, having a, shilling as his sole wealth.’ Last week the sme Mr Ryan sold his Vindex sheep station, in Central Queensland for & figure approaching £170,000. To-day Mr Rylan is one of the richest men in Queensland, and while his progress is. a striking tribute to the man (himself it testifies to the unbounded possibilities of Queensland. ' Vindex- has been bought by Mr Frank Bond,, who is prominent, in Tasmanian Parliamentary circles, and one of Hobart’s leading merchants. Mr Bond is also interested in other Queensland pastoral industries. Vindex was sold on the waik-out-wialk-lin basis, with sev,ent'y-<seven thousand sheep and about foulr hundred head of horses and cattle. The property covers nearly four hundred square' miles.
