MOTOR CAR ACCIDENTS.
MAN SERIOUSLY INJURED
A serious motor ca-r accident occurred at Miangore at six o'clock on Wednesday evening; when a man named John Duncan received injuries necessitating his removal, to-Pal-merston North Hospital. It appears that a, .Ford motor car belonging to the Public Works Department), driven by Bernard John Olson, left- the Mangore camp,' with eight other men aboard, to return to the camp 'at Marionoto road where the men are engaged on the transmission, line. They had -only proceeded a short distance when owing to thie lights not showing) satisfactorily a nd the driver suddenly noticing two men on the road, and -endeavouring to swerve to one side to pass, the car went over the bank and turned a complete somersault. On the occupants extricating themselves it was found that Duncan, w«,s badly injured, having two ribs' l ; ractubed -and injuries, 'to the skull, the driver and two others receiving slight injuries. Dr. Macdonald -attended the injured man and ordered his removal to the Palmerston North hospital. The car was completely wrecked.
Dun-can is a. married man and was recently transferred here from Horora,ta, in the South Island. His wife resides at Duvauchelles, Banks Peninsula.
Another motor accident happened in the early hours of yesterday morning. A Foxton taxi-car driven by Mr Trevelyan, which, had-brought a party to Shannon from. the. Hunt. Club ball at Fo-Xton was returning when a tyre came off, causing the car to capsize, damaging the hood and radiator. The driver escaped injury.
