Electrification had brought the cost’ of tut . Utira tunnel up to about a million ■ and a half. The estimates in respect to Mangahao would he exceeded, possibly doubled.' Still, this was . a most necessary link In the North ' Islaiui system. As. it happened it was in a position where power would have to be ■ supplied at that point to link up with Arapuni and Waikaremoana. L was expected the .work at Mangahao would be finished next year. March had been put down as the date, but •possibly it would be June. The works wore ready to receive machinery, and in six months’ time 1 there should he very little to do there. The Hon. Dr. Newman intends to ask in the Legislative Council lor a statement as to when the supply or electricity from Mangahao is likely to be ready.' '
