New Moon, which was making his first appearance on a racecourse, is owned by the well known All-Black footballer, G. Gillott. Tho Wellington Racing Club paid £12,435 3s 2d to tho Government. in taxes ovor the recent winter meeting. Roy Rood will ride J. Jeffery’s horses in Australia. P. Mason at Riccarton. It was reported that an offer of 650 guineas was refused a few days ago for the South Canterbury hunter, Rhbboro. He has now won three races on 'end, and undoubtedly he is a very useful hunter. The dreamers are at work again!* A well known sportsman, while in “dreamland,” backed Whipcord in the Grand National Steeplechaso, and after the son of San Francisco had won,' the dreamer made his way to the payout window, thero to receive a substantial dividend—then he wbko up! McManaway. ■s* At a recent committee meeting of the Auckland Racing Club it was decided to warn an Ell’erslio trainer, who had been reported for taking a horse on the track when it was suffering* . from a cold, that a repetition of such an offence would jeopardise his license. At Epson; on Derby Day, W. MeLachlan, the Australian horseman, won' the Catcrhanx Stakes on Mr. S. Joel’s Gay Angela.
