LABOUR RECRUITING.
IN MANDATED TERRITORIES. A REPORT DENIED. (Received Friday, 7 p.m.) LONDON, August 9. Sir Joseph Cook denies the accuracy of a statement made at yesterday’s plenary session of the Mandates Commission by Mr Grimshaw, representative of the International Labour Bureau, that workers in mandated territories were often recruited in one district and transferred to another which which was climatically unsuitable, thereby leading to a rapid dimution of population. Sir Joseph Cook points out, on the authority of the highest official reports, that experience negatives Mr Grimshaw’s allegations, On tihe contrary, recruited natives return to their original district pecuniarily benefited, and with added prestige.
