Eonmark, in charge of A. Oliver, is again a daily attendant on the tracks. The son of King Mark is to be given a chance to earn distinction as a hurdler, and with that object ill viow has Oil several occasions been schooled by J. Kaan. His displays have been very satisfactory for a beginner, jumping quickly and cleanly nearly all the battens. j
Yankee Dan and Submerge, which are being looked after by D. Edwards, arc still located at T. George’s stables. They will compete at the Marton meeting.
The hunter Salvadore, which- was trained by T. George, has been returned to his owner, Mr. N. Wilson, of Bulls. Besides Hallowvonia, George has in work Panache and a four-ycar-old gelding by Kilbroney—Pas Seul. A six-year-old gelding, by Panmure —Neirene, and a three-year-old mare, by Panmure-Mouette, go through their daily exercises in good style. They are trained by J. Kelly. Island, Triboulet, a colt by Kilbroney, Sir Pam and Deborah, in charge of R, Hatch, are daily attendants on the tracks.
The leading jockey, M. McCartcn, will do some riding in Australia in the spring.
The Te Kuiti Club’s share under the recent pooling system wag £959. The profit on the 1922 meeting of the club was about £4OO.
Owing to their non-success in the past, both steoplechases have been deleted from the spring meeting at Wanganui. A jumper’s flat and a hack handicap events have been substituted.
While the accident fee in New Zealand was recently increased from 10s. to £l, the Australian Jockey Club has reduced the contribution from horse owners from 7s. 6d. to ss.
Rhoboro, who won a double at the South Canterbury Hunt meeting is an aged chestnut gelding by Canniu Chief —Nolleen. He is a fine type of hunter being big and obi-- to carry weight, while he stays well. Rhoboro had no previous experience on a racecourse, but had won three point-to-point steeplechases.
The value of the Wanganui Guineas has been reduced from 650 sovs. to 500 sovs, and the Eclipse Stakes from 500 sovs. to 400.
