THE AUDIOMETERDame Nellie Melba’s voice has been successfully photographed. ■ Se sang Into Professor A. M. Low’s audiometer, and three photographs were taken, the first of the famous Melba trill, th e second of the note “ C,” and the third an exercise designed to cure the nodules which form on the vocal cords of singers. The first and second showed the waves of sound amazingly perfect, their regularity proving that every note was distinct and true. The photographs, Melba-considers, are of exceptional interest to singers, and will enable future generations to compare the quality of her song with that of voices as yet unheard.
