Poland, ALP., who had given notice to ask the Minister whether he would immediately confer with his colleagues the Minister for Railways with the object of inducing the latter to agree to a reduction in railway freight on dairy produce, which was at present lad pier cent, higher than in 1914.
“The provision of free school-books to school children would involve so large an expenditure that the Government could not undertake it at present,stated the Al.ini.ster for Education in a printed reply to a question by Mr. G. Witty, M.P. “It should be noted (lie added) that, the majority of parents are quite well able to- provide books for their children, and that provision is also made for supplying free school books in all necessitous cases certified to by the headteacher.
