DEEP WATER AT FOXTON.

MANAWATU RIVER AT BAR.

Members of the Foxton Harbour Board were very pleased at the pilot's report submitted at the meeting of that body on Saturday, which stated that the bar continued to keep good; the present channel was in a good position for shipping. The average soundings for Die month were H.W.S.T. lift and H.W.N.T. 9ft. The river had improved considerably. On July 27, at high water in and about the Fisherman’s Flat, the average sounding or least water was 9ft 6in. At the present time this was the shallowest portion of the river between the bar and the wharf

Mr Linklater: “That is very good.” Members: “Hear, hear.”
