REV. MR MINIFIE FAREWELLED.
A POPULAR MINISTER. On Thursday evening last in the Parish Hall the. members and friends of Methodist Church met to say farewell to Rev. Mr Minifie, who has been compelled to resign from the ■ ministry on 'account of ill-liealth. It is with deep regret that his resignation has been accepted, as. Mir Minifie had endeared himself ... to ; ah;.'with, whom' he came in contact. He wa's always ready and willing to help in all kinds of work for the advancement of the Church,., and was ever first to help carry out.any scheme to a success. At all times he Was ah * earnest and sympathetic helper in times of trouble or illness. The Rev. Abbott, Mr Banks (Foxton), 1 . ahd Mr T. F. Gibson (Levin) each spoke a few words in appreciation of the work Mr Minifie had done while in the. circuit. . Mr Baxteir then made a presentation as a token of esteem from the! Shannon friends, to which Mr Minifie made a suitable reply. : •
A very enjoyable concert programme was arranged, to which the following contributed items:—Miss Aim, Miss Chalk, Miss Evans, Miss Evielyn Swindlehurst, Mesdanies Bovis, Bishop and Riches, Rev. Minifie, Messrs Andrew, Hunter, W. Quarrie and Master W. Baxter. A very enjoyable evening was then brought, .to a close by supper, which was provided by the ladies of the church.
