Butter. —Market quiet; Buyers apparently anticipate early termination of dockhge strike, and that prices will decline. At present, the position is unchanged. Following are the vessels still waiting discharge: At Manchester, Whakatane; at London, Mahia, Port Nicholson, Raranga, Hurunui', Kaikoura; shipments New Zealland arrived this week iby the Rotojrua; ,now due, Westmeath. Official quotations are: New Zealand (salted) 3 56/ to 158/ per cwt. (1/42 to 1/5 per lb); exceptional, 180/ per cwt. (1/si); unsalted 158/ to 160/ (1/5 to 1/54). Australian, salted (finest) 146/ to 150/ (1/31 to 1/4); unsalted 146/ ito 150/ (1/31 to 1/4); other qualities, salted 120/ to 140/ (1/1 to 1/3); unsalted, 120/ to 136/ (1/1 to 1/25). •.rgentine, 130/ to 140/ (1/2 to 1/3). •Irish, salted, 148/ to 1.52/ (1/32 vo 1/41); linsalted, 150/ to- 152/ (1/4 to a/41). Danish, 154/ to 158/ (1/45 to 1/6). ;
Cheese. —-Pair demand for goods actually available. Official- quotations ! are: English (finest farmers), 112/ to 114/ per cwt. (1/ to 1/01 per lb.). Canadian, coloured 93/ to 94/ (10d.), jwhite 93/ to 94/ (10d.). New Zealand, coloured 94/ to 96/ (lOd to 101 d); Wihite 96/ to 98/ (101 to 10J). market quieter. 1‘ G ” grade August-October shipment now quoted sellers £36 10/ per ton, f‘ J ” grade £3l 5/ per ton. Nets Zealand market quiet, at about quotations already g) »en fo ! r “ fair,” but no business done- Reported that " good fair ” has been sold at spot £32 per ton.
