Considerable interest is prevailing in the appearance of that prince of entertainers. The Great McLwen, at- the Miaoriand. Theatre, commencing oil Thursday, for a season - of two nights. Since Mr McEwen fast visited New; Zealand he has travelled nearly all paits of the globe, and has taken advantage of the opportunity to perfect himself in the art of modern mesmerism, sleight of hand tricks, card manipulating, occult science, and Oriental .magic. With his hypnotic powers, The Great McEwen exercises complete control over his subjects, /and he causes roars of daughter by the extraordinary antics of these subjects principally in their endeavour to sing popular ballads. During Mr McEwen’s visit to the Far East, he was fortulnate enough to discover Eric Ah Yeng, a young Chinese magician and cartoonist of the Imperial Court of Chinese magicians. Air Yeng is. a bom magician’ with a quiet, unassuming manner and strong personality. He is sure to receive a hearty welcome here from residents claiming to be l of Chinese nationality. Mr W. A. Low. who is directing the tour, claim that these two artists will place before the public a programme of considerable magnitude that will secure the hearty approbation of 'all those 1 who patronise this unique and mysterious entertainment.
