j ORDINARY MEETING. An ordinary quarterly meeting of the Shannon Ratepayers’ Association 1 was held on Friday evening, j Mr Bert Spencer. who presided, gave an outline of the work carried out. during the Association’s first quarter; Alnongst the matters that had received their attention wais the delay telephone subscribers had been put to ’ in not being able to obtain, connec- ; turns promptly, and he was pleased to say this has been remedied. They ' had also pointed out. to the Borouigh Council that when tarring the footpaths they were liable for any dam- | age done to business premises by persons damaging carpets through tar j adhering to their boots and .asking the Council to take precautions which had been done. A request to the Borough Council for improvements on the Recreation Grounds haid Received the Council’s support; also that, signboards Avith the. names of the street be erected in each street had been promised by the Council and that a sum of money had been placed on this year’s estimates for that purpose. The secretary \va,s instructed to write the Borough Council asking if anything further had been done in regardi to naming the streets. It was decided, the Borough Council be written, to the effect that the Ratepayers’ Association view with satisfaction: the attitude at, present adopted by the Council in regard to straying stock on 1 the road'.
