“SOCCER” ALL BLACKS.
DRAWN GAME WITH N.S. WALES. (Received Monday, 9 p.m.) SYDNEY, Last Night. . The New Zealand Association football representatives narrowly escaped defeat by New South Wales. The' first spell produced no score, though the local men persistently peppered Craxton with shots from all angles. The visiting goalkeeper was compelled to concede a couple of corners, but otherwise he gave a fine display. Sherringham, in endeavouring to emulate last Wednesday’s performance, was always troublesome in the second half. Campbell led his side in a number of dribbling invasions ,and was ably supported by Innes and Dacre. The last-named, after an opportune dash, found the net. New Zealand 1, New South Wales nil. The home men vainly endeavoured to beat Craxton, but the goalkeeper, with Braithwaite, repeatedly repulsed the blues. Ballard forced a corner from a long shot, but the blues cleared the goal. Just before time was called, Lennard beat Craxton with an awkward ground shot, and the game ended in a draw — one goal all.
