POWER BOARD SECRETARYSHIP.

' EIGHTY APPLICATIONS RECEIVED. No fewer than eighty applications were received for the position of secretary to the Horowhenua Electric Power Board. These were gone through by the Finance Committee of the Board last night for the, of the most suitable candidates. The Finance Committee submitted, eight names to the full Board, which after lengthy consideration to-day re. duced these to two-, namely, Mr P. W Goldsmith, of Levin, and Mr J. W Timlin of Dunedin. It_was then de-' elded to hold a special meeting of the Board on a date to be fixed; at which both of these applicants would ,be interviewed by the Board and a decision made.
