GHEERIO AFTERNOON.
* Thß second cheerio afternoon social was as big a success fts the first. The programme was arranged by Mrs Rovis and Miss Merwood, items being given by Mrs Riches, Miss Merwood, Miss Terry. Mona Ingley, Joyce Merwood, .all oif which were much appreciated. Afternoon tea wa,s dispensed by Mrs Terry and Misses Roaich and A. Brown. During the afternoon several competitions were held, also a baby show which created .a, lot of interest, Baby No. 6 proving the winner. Baby No. 3 a close second. The following were the results of the competitions : —Missing word contest, won by Miss Merwood, with Mis? Jean Jamieson second. Guessing the height of Mrg Bovis, Mrs Jensen, Miss Healy and Mrs Burn's. Guessing the winning baby’s votes, Mrs T. Moynihan. Miniature hockey, Miss Curran. In the two last-mentioned competitions there "were several seconds, who each receive points. The competition points contest now stands-. Mrs T. Moynihan 8, Miss Merwood 6. For the points prize competitors get points for every contest they enter for, viz., 4 points for first, and 2 points for second, and a record is being kept of all these points all through the series of six socials. The prize—ai beautiful small English -cut crystal bowl—will go to the one with the’ most points. The next afternoon will be held on July 4 when the entertainment, programme will be in the hands of Mis Moynihan and Miss Curran. The'jumble stall will hold novelties a,s uisual and everyone is invited to come along. .The net result of the second cheerio afternoon was £6 4s.
