WORD NEW ZEALANDERS WOULD ABOLISH.

There is a word against which the j Hiffh Commissioner for New Zealand in London, Six’ James Allen, if waging war (says a Home paper). The word Z Australasia. Sir James thinks that by its use, New Zealand tends to | lose’her identity when she is meniioned in conjunction with Australia. “Many people who really ought know better,” he said, “are inclined to think that New Zealand is a part of Australia. The result is thabbusiness which should go direct to the Dominion filters through Melbourne or Sydney, 1200 miles away. “There is a Bank of Australasia of old standing, and a publication called the Australasian. I should like to see both change their names. , “As there is no difficulty whatever in using the phrase Australia and New Zealand in place of the word Australasia, I should very muchjike to see this change brought about.”
