This match was the centre of attraction ,a,t the recreation grounds at Shannon on Saturday. The teams were known to be well matched and a good game was looked for, and the spectators were not disappointed in this respect, as it was the most willing seen on the ground this season, the issue being in dount right through. In the second half play was very fast and some good football was witnessed' The last five minuites of the game was played ini the dark. If Shannon can keep up Saturday’s form! they should go near to winning the junior championship.

MANGORE, 14 v. FOXTON 3

This game, on the. whole, was of a very uninteresting nature. From the commencement it was apparent both teams, lacked combination, although Foxton’s back division gave some very ■fine exhibitions of passing, but with the ■ exception of two or three players their forwards gave a very poor display, which was mainly responsible for their defeat. Mangore took advantage of this weakness and making it a forward game had their rivals on the defensive most of the time. Had Foxton thrown, the ball about more among their hacks, who are a nippy lot, the. score would probably have been more'even. The game opened .with Foxton attacking and after an exchange of kicking Mangore secured a free kick near Foxton’s 25. The attempt at goal missed. Mangore then "had; Foxton defending their goal, where from a line-out fiye yards from , the line Keenan scored. Middleton failed to add the extra points. A good deal of play in midfield followed, where Keenau, by a fine kick carrie’ play to Foxton territory. From a scrum the Foxton hacks secured the leather, and the whole division handling it nicely, carried it right down the field and. looked like scoring, but lost the ball near the line. They were now pressing, their opponents hard arid s°on after were forced. On the ball going into play again King (Mangore) by high kicking and following up brought play into Foxton’s 25, where the spell ended.

The second spell opened with the ball travelling up and down the field' for some time. Eventually, while r Mangore’s 25 the Foxton backs secured possession and a fine passing rush saw C. Proctor draw first’ blood for Foxton.. 'Huff’s kick failed. An exchange of kicks followed, the ball finally going out near Foxton’s lim where from a pass-in Tregurtha crossed the line atnd scored, Middleton adding the major points. Foxton. then made a determined effort to ' even things up and after having Blues defending their line for some time werp forced. From this out Foxton fader away and from, a series of dribbling rushes by Blues Torrey scored. The kick failed. Soon after from a passing rush by Foxton backs Reed (Mangore) intercepted and by good nm down field) took play _into opponents' 25 where Carter scored. Mr Randa 11 had charge of the game.
