CULLING OF DEER.
THE NEW REGULATIONS. The Gazette ” notifies that red and fallow deer may be taken and killed within any aclimatisation district, subject to the following conditions: — Notwithstanding anything contained in the Animals Protection and Game Act, the secretary of any acclimatisation society, or any person or persons duly authorised in writing by any suoh secretary, may, during the period hereinafter mentioned, kill within the district of the society red deer and fallow doer of either sex and 'of any age which, in the opinion of the said secretary, should be destroyed. Such deer may be destroyed' as aforesaid during a. period of 3 2 months from the date hereof. A return shall be furnished to the Minist-T for Internal Affairs by the secretary of each acclimatisation society within one calendar month after the expiry of the aforesaid period, and such return shall state' the number (if any) and sex of all deer so destroyed as aforesaid, the dates, and name of person by whom, and the locality in which, the doer were destroyed.
The head or antlers of any stag,’or the venison or skins of any deer taken or killed pursuant, to this warrant may be disposed of subject to the regulations made under tile said Act by Or-dor-in-Founcil dated November 3, 1922 and gazetted on the same date. Any person who, commits a breach of any of the provisions of these regu ations is liable to a penalty not exceeding- £2O.
