TOKOMARU NEWS.
(From our own Correspondent.) A pleasant evening was spent in the Tokomaru Hall on May 25, the occasion :being the holding of the fortnightly euchre and dance in connection with the Anglican Church. There .was a good attendance of enthusiastic players, the first prizes being won by Miss McLaggan and Mr Lemberg. Mrs L. Wood and Mr Leslie Rowlands were winners of the second prizes. Visitors from Wellington and Featherston were present and men from the transmission camp now stationed at the riverside. Later on, dancing was indulged in. supper handed round, and a successful evening brought to a close shortly after midnight. On Sunday afternoon a bright, little service, conducted by the Rev. .1. C. Abbott, was field in St. Aidan’s CJhurch. and the singing of Miss Whalley, of Palmerston North, who had kindly consented to render a solo was greatly • appreciated. Mrs Philfips has just returned home after an enjoyable holid iv spent in Christchurch.
Miss Higgs, of the teaching staff, spent her holidays in Blenheim, her home town, which she found just recovering from the effects of the recent flood. Miss Wake, also of the school staff, visited F.ketainrna. Mr Hewiison, Ihe victim of a recent accident is, we 'are pleased to say, out of hospital, and able to get about. Mr and Mrs-Whyte are on a visit to Wellington and Petprie.
