CUSTODIAN TRUSTEESHIP. No 20 —A Function of the Public Trust. One of the important functions of the Public Trustee is custodian trusteeship. He may be appointed custodian trustee of any estate in which there are private trustees. In such a case the property is vested in him as if he were the sole trustee, but he acts as directed by the private trustees. While the management of the estate devolves upon the private trustees it is the duty of the Public Trustee in these circumstances to get in and hold the trust property, invest its funds and dispose of the assets according to written directions received from the private trustees, provided he is satisfied that such directions do not conflict with the conditions of the r trust' or the law, nor expose him to any liability.
