POWER BOARD ELECTIONS.

COUNTY SEATS CONTESTED

Next Wednesday County electors will be called upon to choose three representatives on the Horowhenua Electric Power Board, the whole ecu also. Mr Overton was a man who had ent district for this purpose. The sitting members are the chairman, Mr G. A. Monk, Mr A. Seifert, and Mr A. A. Brown. The other candidates are Messrs F. G. Roe, G. P. Catley and E. Macdonald. . Mr Alfred Seifert to-day advises the electors of his intention to defend his seat on the Board, which has been fortunate hitherto in having the benefit of his advice and experience. He has been the managing director of the lug Miranui flaxmilling enterprise since its inception many years ago and js admittedly an outstanding figure in the Dominion's industries to-day. Mr Seifert, for many years, has made a close study of hydro-electrical developments during extensive travels in America, Australia and the Old Country His organising ability, business knowledge and mature judgment have been unreservedly placed at the disposal of the Board and we have no hesitation in saying that the ratepayers would he well-advised in the interests of the efficient and economical operation of the scheme io retain Mr Seifert's proffered services. For like reasons it is to he hoped that the County chairman, Mr G. A. Monk will be returned. To his natural ability as an administrator lie na> added a*great amount of knowledge gained in Hie course of 'voi* a<> chairman of the Board and lie has i brom-lit whole-hearted enthusiasm Jo the work of establishing hydro-elec-tric power throughout the County In return he is fairly entitled to ash foi llie continued confidence o£ the elec to vs. - ■ ......
