MANGAHAO NOTES
The works now present a very bu; v scene, and a larger number of men are at present employed, particularly at Arapete. A firm foundation has now been found on the site of the dam, and concreting is proceeding on the western side- of the wall.
Only some few hundred feet now separate the working parties in the tunnel, and a vi-sit to the works at the present time will convince the mostsceptical that the day is not far distant when the district’s hopes will he realised and. its wheels of industry respond to the potent energy of Mangahao. 1 Mr .Huirrell, assistant engineer a.t Arapete, will he leaving shortly for Beaumont, South Island, on transfer. His place will be taken by Mr D. S. Marehbanks, at present, at Beaumont
