LARGE QUANTITY SEIZED IN RECENT RAID. £ls AN OUNCE OFFERED. AUCKLAND, Last Night. Investigations by Customs officials shows that opium is being smuggled into Auckland in fairly large bulk. In Friday’s raid in Ponsonby Road, (not Grey Street) over five pounds’ weight of the drug Avas discovered in a Hindu fruit shop. The legitimate retail price is ten shillings an ounce, but it is known that Asiatics here have offered as much as £ls an ounce.
