RUGBY UNION MEETS.
The weekly meeting of the Management Committee ol the Ilorowhenua Itugby Union was held on Tuesday evening, Mr J. Proctor being in the chair. There were also present, Messrs Sciascia, Hutchings, McMillan, Bovuu, Casey, and the secretary (Mr L. Carmichael).
A letter was received from the secretary of the Pacing c.iub asking tor the use of the Hop. jerseys for the Mardi Gras game against t-iio A. and P. Association.—lt was decided to reply that ilie Union could not see iis way clear to lend its jerseys to any 'but a Rep. team. It was proposed by Mi .Sciascia ana seconded by Mr Hutchings that the suspension ui M. and it. iloi...isu;!, Reed and Baker ol the Fuxtun cm.., be lifted us the result of a satisfactory statement made to the Union by those players.
It was proposed by Mr Bevun, and seconded by Mr Sciascia that the secretary be instructed to ask tor a statement from the secretary of the Referees’ Association as to the disbursal ol certain referees’ expenses paid to the Association.
It was proposed by Mr Proctor, seconded by Mr McMillan, that all trophies be banded in to the secretary by May 1. It was decided that these trophies be collected and exhibited lor a fortnight alternately iu each of the following townships; l-'oxton, Shannon, oiaki and Levin.
The following conditions .governing the competition lor the trophy presented by Mrs Nash, were adopted by the Committee: (1) The Cup to be known as “The Nash Cup”; (2) To be played for as a knock-out competition for senior teams within the Union; (3) all teams must nominate to tiie Union; (4) fixtures and grounds to be arranged by the Management Committee; (s)be final game for the Cup to he played on the Levin Domain; (6) winfiers of the Cup to hold same for the season and must transfer insurance whilst in their possession ; (7) the Union to insure the Cup for £35; (8) winners to engrave Cup at their own expense with name of winning team and year; (9) the Cup to be returned to the Union on or before seven - days prior to the annual general meeting. .
