REFUSED AT LAUSANNE.
TWO SMALL ISLANDS CLAIMED. FORMER MOSLEM TERRITORY. (Received Thursday. 8.5 p.m.) LAUSANNE, April 26. The Turks raised the question of the islands of Ca-stelorizo allotted to Italy by Article 15. They claimed it shoud be handed back, on the ground that it is within Turkish territorial waters, being separated only by a narrow strait from the mainland, and thus forming, part of Anatolia. lh*. Allies’ view was that th e matter was not open to discussion, as the claim, was not raised before, and the Allies had laid it down that they would not re-open negotiations on 'matters on which* agreement had already been reached. There were no Moslem Turks on the island. The
Turks suggested arbitration and this also was refused. • The next move 1b with Isinet. The Turks also pressed for the island of Adakaleh, now in Roumanian hands, on the ground of its sentimental value to them. Sir Horace Rumbold definitely refused.
