MUNICIPAL ELECTION.
THURSDAY NEXT. It is hardly necessary to remind the electors that Thursday next is ..the polling clay for the election of Mayor and eight councillors for the Borough. A great deal’of interest has been, aroused fiver (the election and it is quite on. the cards there will be many surprises, there being no less than 17 candidates for* the Council, while the result of the mayoral contest between Messrs Fargher and Murdoch is sure to be a keen one. The polling booth is the Council Chambers, the polling hours being from 9 a.m, to 7 p.m. It is expected the results will be known about-8.30 p.m. • To-night, at til'ie Maoriland Theatre, the retiring Mayor and Councillors will address the electors, after which Mr Farther, who is contesting the Mayoralty, - speak. The hall will then be thrown open to the* new candidates to place their views before the electors.
