ASSAULT ON YOUNG GIRL.
ASHBURTON, Last Night. John • Smith Chapman, an elderly tinsmith, was committed to the Supreme Court on a charge of indecent assault on a girl, aged 13 years. The girl, in evidence, said that at accused s invitation, she entered his back room on several occasions, and was blindfolded and assaulted, accused giving her occasional'y a shilling.
