CORRESPONDENCE
SOLDIERS’ MEMORIAL.
.(To the Editor.) Sir,—At the close of the Soldiers’ Memorial concert on Tuesday evening it was painful to hear the remarks of some; of the councillors as to what should have been., done, etc., to raise more money for tljis worthy purpose. But the part that always strikes me is that they want someone else to do it. As far as I know, the councillors, with one or two exceptions, have done nothing—only talk and criticise the efforts made by the Mayor. I would suggest Ihat some of the councillors, who, as far as my knowledge goes have done nothing, not even attend the concert, do mireand talk less, and not leave every effort that is made to the wilting ones, then the- required money would soon he in hand. The Mayor deserves credit for raising the money now in hand. As I said before, as far as my knowledge goes, no other councillor 1 1 a -• made an effort other than talk. — < I am, etc., “LEST WE FORGET.”
