PALMERSTON RAILWAYS V. SHANNON.

The annual game which takes piaoe each year between the Shannon Club and the Pahnerston North Railway Club, took place iu the Shannon recreation ground this week-end. Some 40 visitors journeyed from Palmerslon North, and the two teams batted 15 men and fielded 11. The Shannon skipper won the toss, and sent the .visitors in to bat. They knocked up 1.86 runs. This was. a fairly stiff proposition for the home team, but they rose to the occasion, and when stumps were drawn had 198 runs on for the loss of nine wickets. Hunt retired after knocking up 44 runs without giving a chance. Aim (not out 25),

and Parsons (22) also batted well Mr Ongley, in thanking the Shannon Club for (lie-,day outlaid the difficulty they found now was to convey the numbers down who wished to make the trip, and the game had become «o popular that he thought the best thing Shannon could do was to put down another pitch.

Mr Randall, in responding, thanked Mr Ongley on behalf of the Shannon Club, and. said that they looked forward' to the game just as much as the Pahnerston. team, and thought Ihe only regrettable feature in connection with the day's play was that W. Treinewan, an old Shannon player {who [or the past four years had been connected with the Railway Club) had passed from their midst. Cheers were then given for the teams and umpires.
