CAR CRASHES INTO BRIDGE.

O.N AWAHURI-RONGOTEA ROAD. LADY SLCCOIBS TO INJURIES. The death occurred at the hospital early yesterday morning of Mrs Alice Kripa, 28 years of age, residing at, Rongotea, who was injured in a motor smash between Awahuri and Rongotea oil Friday night. The condition of Air George Ross, who also received injuries, is not regarded as serious. Mr W. Davis, of Glen Oroua, was driving his car, in which the two injured persons were also travelling, in the direction of Rongotea. When approaching a concrete bridge between Awahuri and Rongotea, a portion of the under part of the car gave way and threw the machine out of control, with the result that it dashed into the side of the bridge.

The passengers were injured by the flying glass. Mrs Kripa received a cut on the head as well as injuries to her back, and it was found necessary to perform an operation at the hospital. This was carried out on Saturday, but the patient never rallied and died yesterday.—Palmerston Times.
