HIGH COMMISSIONER'S CABJLE.

The Department of Agriculture has received the following cablegram, dated 24th inst, High Commissioner for New Zealand, London: — ■> Meat: New Zealand mutton meets very limited, demand, market being chiefly for Australian and Argentine. Lamb market quiet. Chilled beef lighter supplies. Frozen beef, small supply and quotations nominal. Butter: Market quiet ami irregular during this week, but now showing improvement. New Zealand (salted) finest —25th March, 190/ to 196/ per cwt. (l/B>.d to 1/9 per lb); 17th March, 204/ to 208/ per cwt. (1/92 to 1/101 Per lb); 10th March. 205/ to 210/ per cwt. (1/93 to i/ioi per lb); (unsalted), 24th March, 198/ to 200/. per cwt. (1/91 U 19* per lb); 17th March, 208/ to 210/ per cwt. (1/101 to 1/101 per lb); 10th March, 210/ to 212/ per cwt. (l/10id to 1/102 per lb); other qualities, 24th March, 186/ to 188/ per cwt. (l/8d to 1/81 per lb). Cheese: Market quiet, but steady. New Zealand: Finest, *24th March, coloured, 148/ to 15/ per cwt. (l/3|d to 1/4 per lb); white, 146/ to 148/ per cwt. (1/3?;. to 1/3? per lb); 17th March, 148/ to 150/ per cwt (1/31 to 1/4 per lb); white. 146/ to 148/ per cwt. (l/3ld to 1/33 per lb); 10th March, coloured. 142/ to 144/ per ! cwt. (1/31 sto 1/33) per lb); white, 140/ to 142/ per cwt. (l/3d to 1/31 per lb); other qualities: 24th March, coloured 146/ per cwt. (1/3J per lb); white 144/ to 145/ per cwt. (1/3J per lb). Hemp: Manila market. quiet and prices somewhat weaker. "H" grade, spot, sold at £37; "G" grade, MarchMay shipments, quoted at £37; "J" grade £35. New Zealand demand falling off, except for inferior. It is reported that fair grade is offered in America at £3l 10/ for March-M shipments. .
