MR WILFORD AT TE AROHA.
TE AROMA, Last Night
The Leader of the Opposition, Mr T. M. Wilford, was greeted by a packed audience at the Theatre Royal, Te Aroha, to-night, over 1200 persons being present. The Mayor, Mr A. Coulter, presided. A scene of enthusiasm unsurpassed at any political meeting was demonstrated as Mr Wilford appeared on the platform, and again when he rose to address the assemblage. Prolonged cheers and applause from all sections of the theatre created a deafening chorus. In his remarks he caustically criticised the Reform Party and the Massey Administration, and throughout he was listened to with great attention, being applauded at various intervals. At the conclusion, he received a unanimous vote of thanks for a very intelligent address and for the courtesy of visiting Te Aroha. That the audience approved of his speech was obvious by the immensity of the cheering that arose on the motion being put. The meeting concluded with cheers after cheers and rounds of applause for Mr Wilford. Sir Joseph Ward and the Liberal [Party. •
