FLEETING WINS MEMORIAL. CUP TO CORRESPONDENT. Beautiful weather, a, large atten_ dance, and a g'ood track favoured Ran. gitikei Racing Club for the opening ,day of its annual meeting. The racing was very interesting, several thrilling finishes being witnessed. Punters had a fairly good day as four first fancies scored. The Scott Memorial provided a great finish, the five Horses practically crossed the line together, and nobody was sure of what had won till the judge hoisted the numbers. The decision met with great approval. The meeting was well managed, thanks to the splendid organising ability' of the secretary, Mr. H. A. Goodall, and his chief assistant, Mr. A. Way. Mr. C. O’Connor did good work at the starting barrier. The totalisator investments for the day amounted to £16,684, as compared with £14,468 on the corresponding day last year, an increase of £2216.

The course was fairly hard, and there was a large attendance. All the officials did good work, and the meeting turned out to be a great success. The .investments on the totalisator amounted to £14.,113 as against £13,336 on the corresponding day last year, an increase of £777.
