ELECTORS SHOULD ENROL

Preliminary work in, connection with tiie compilation of tile new borough roil, in preparation lor. the'colli-' ing Mayoral election, has been practically completed. The main roll, which is now closed, contains the names of 1200 electors, and comes into operation on April 1. A supplementary roll will be prepared lor the convenience of those not already enrolled-, and will close at 5 pan. on the, 12th April, fourteen days prior to the election. ' - 1

In regard to. eligibility to vole, tne Act states that any person who is a resident oi a, borough and over the age 'Of, 21 years, shall be entitled tovote, provided he has been a resident within the borough three months prior to the election, and lids"completed twelve, liionths residence m New Zealand. No person, however, who has not been enrolled by 5 pun. on April 12 will be entitled, to vote. The election, which is fixed'.by Statute ior the last ■•Wednesday in April, will this year be held a day later on account of Anzac Day tailing un the Wednesday, a special .ainendnjent to the Act having been made to permit of this being done.

Besides the election oi the new Council, three ptlier issues will be placed before- the electors in Levin, namely, for a representative on the Foxton Harbour Board, elected from the Levin, Shannon and Otaki boroughs, the election for 'which office is held in Levin; a, representative To. the Palmerston North Hospital and Charitable Aid Board-from the same boroughs; and a representative, to the Wellington Harbour Board. > The poll will take place at the Council Chambers on Thursday, April 26, and the new Council takes office on May 2. . ~ "
